Anthropic and FIS Partner to Automate Financial Crime Investigations

FIS and Anthropic have announced a strategic partnership to launch a "Financial Crimes AI Agent" specifically designed for Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and compliance investigations.

The new agent is capable of gathering evidence across complex banking systems in real-time, checking activity against known money-laundering patterns, and automatically flagging high-risk cases for human investigators. According to the announcement, the AI can reduce the time spent on a single investigation from several hours to just a few minutes.

By handling the "heavy lifting" of data collection and initial risk assessment, the agent allows compliance teams to focus their expertise on the most complex cases, significantly increasing the efficiency of global financial security efforts.
