Google AI Plus Drops to $4.99 and Doubles Storage to 400 GB

Google is making its entry-level paid AI plan more aggressive: Google AI Plus is dropping to $4.99 per month while doubling its included storage from 200 GB to 400 GB.
The move gives Google's lower-cost AI subscription a clearer role between the free Gemini experience and the company's higher-end AI Pro and AI Ultra plans. When AI Plus first launched in the United States, the plan cost $7.99 per month and included 200 GB of storage. The revised version cuts the monthly price while making the storage allowance substantially more practical for users already paying for Google One-style capacity.
What Google AI Plus Includes
Google AI Plus is positioned as a step up from the free Gemini tier. Subscribers get higher usage limits in the Gemini app, including a 128,000-token context window and roughly twice the usage headroom compared with free access.
The plan also includes access to several AI-assisted productivity features across Google's ecosystem, including Daily brief, Omni Flash video generation, scheduled actions, expanded NotebookLM limits, Proofread and AI Inbox features in Gmail, and broader access across tools such as Google Flow, AI Studio, and Antigravity.
A More Competitive AI Bundle
The new pricing makes Google AI Plus more directly competitive with other low-cost AI subscription offerings, especially because the plan now bundles both AI access and a meaningful amount of cloud storage.
| Google AI Plus | Previous Plan | Updated Plan |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly price | $7.99 | $4.99 |
| Included storage | 200 GB | 400 GB |
| Gemini usage | Higher than free tier | Higher than free tier |
| Context window | 128,000 tokens | 128,000 tokens |
Google is also simplifying its paid AI branding. The existing $9.99 plan with 2 TB of storage is now officially labeled as Google AI Plus, making AI features a more visible part of Google's storage subscription ladder.
The 400 GB storage increase is expected to roll out over the next few days. The lower price should apply from each subscriber's next plan renewal rather than immediately mid-cycle.
For users who already wanted more Google storage and occasional Gemini power-user features, the updated AI Plus plan is a much stronger value proposition than the launch version. It also signals that Google is willing to compete on AI subscription pricing while using storage as a bundle advantage that standalone chatbot providers cannot easily match.
